ABOUT My writing life began as a teenager. Not sure what inspired me. I just started writing and got my first poem published at the age of 18. While that was an accomplishment, little did I know then how tough it would be to continue getting published on a regular basis. Suffice it to say the business is a beast. The literary world is always evolving, particularly with digital publishing. It has helped open the playing field. I believe in both traditional and self - publishing. For me, it's about the writing. Telling a good story, and ultimately sharing your passion with the world of readers.

Experimenting: Being a writer of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction has given me the opporunity to write and publish in various print and online publications. It has allowed me freedom to experiment and start my own publication. From 1995 to 2004 I coedited/published the Sour Grapes Newsletter with fellow writer/artist Sheila Foley. I learned a lot by being on the other side of the desk. Most editors are writers after all. Sour Grapes began in hardcopy format before moving to a full online presence. The technolgy paved the way for my growing interest in web design, which ultimately led to courses and starting my own freelance web design business. With so much to do and little time to do it all something had to give. Eventually Sour Grapes came to an end to make way for other things. Suffice it to say, writing won out. But I will always be grateful for the contacts and friends I made through SG. It was a good experience.

Writing and credits: Although I write in many genres, I prefer dark fiction, particularly ghost stories. That said, most of my credits have been in nonfiction and poetry with a smattering of stories appearing here and there. Some Credits include: Writer Online, The Writer Magazine, Slug Fest Magazine, Flashquake, Writers' Journal, and many poetry anthologies along with articles appearing in local newspapers and magazines over the years. Currently, I write flash fiction and poetry regularly for a small Cape Cod e-zine.

Like most creative people, I'm always working on several projects at once. For the last few years I've been writing a paranormal mystery series entitled, The Reluctant Medium. It has spawed into two books, with a third one planned. I have written a few other novels, but as of yet, they remain unpublished. Suffice it to say, writing a novel takes way more time and discipline, not to mention many eyes on the entire work, than short stories need. If you want to do it right, the process can not be rushed. That said, I do have other offerings. You can find two short stories/novellas on Kindle: The Shuddering and Creepies available on Amazon. I'm also working on a collection of short stories, which I may make available in the future.

Memberships: I'm a fairly new member of the Cape Cod Writers Center, however, I maintain ties with my original and long standing writers group north of Boston, The Stoneham Writers Group. In 2020 we celebrated our 30th anniversary. Being a critique group, I credit them with helping me become a better writer. I appreciate their honesty and support. Also, their friendship. You can check out our website at, Stoneham Writers Group.
I'd also like to thank my husband Joel, for being an editor/proofreader, and coach when needed. A writer needs a good support team and he's it, along with many others.

BLACK CATS: Ah, why the black cat image, you might ask. The simple answer is, I love cats. Cats are mysterious creatures and black felines in particular evoke a sense of spookyness and superstition. If I had to choose a symbol for my writing, I'd go with the black cat.
